Eminent journalist and Editor of the daily Janakantha Atikullah Khan Masud passed away this morning. He was 71.

He was declared dead after being rushed to a private hospital in the capital around 5:30am, Bangla daily Prothom Alo reports quoting special correspondent of the daily Janakantha Tapan Biswas.

He was suffering from breathing problems, Tapan said.

Atikullah Khan left behind his wife, two sons and grandchildren to mourn his death.

He first published the daily Janakantha in 1993.

President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of veteran journalist and the Daily Janakantha editor Mohammad Atikullah Khan Masud.
