The attorney general's (AG) office and Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) yesterday offered farewell to Justice Tariq ul Hakim, a judge of Appellate Division of the Supreme Court, on his last working day in office.  

Justice Tariq, who was appointed as judge at the division on September 2, will retire tomorrow, but the court has weekly holidays on Friday and Saturday.

Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain presided over the virtual felicitation programme at the Appellate division's Court No-1.

Additional Attorney General Murad Reza, who is performing functions as acting the attorney general, and SCBA President Advocate AM Amin Uddin spoke at the event.

They wished a long and healthy life of Justice Tariq.

A total of 189 judges and lawyers participated in the farewell ceremony via video conferencing, Deputy Attorney General AKM Amin Uddin Manik told The Daily Star.

Justice Tariq thanked SCBA leaders and AG office for the farewell, that too during the pandemic.
