Brac University partners with Duke of Edinburgh award

An agreement signing ceremony took place on Wednesday between The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Foundation Bangladesh (DEA-BD) and Brac University (Bracu) on its campus, says a press release.
Bracu Vice Chancellor Prof Vincent Chang, and Brig Gen (retd) Kaiser Ahmed, national director of DEA-BD, signed for their respective organisations.
Bracu will offer the award programme to its 11,000 existing students and make it mandatory for the approximate 3,000 freshers every year.
The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award is a non-formal education programmes operating in 130 countries. In Bangladesh, 93 leading educational institutes are running it under sub-license from DEA-BD.
If offers a unique opportunity to youths aged 14-24 to discover their hidden talents and gain a special sense of responsibility.
Abdullah Chowdhury, director of Bracu’s Student Experience and Alumni Affairs; Karla Fraser, director of Bracu’s Campus Life; Irene Sommer, manager to Bracu VC’s office; along with officials of DEA-BD were present at the signing ceremony.
