Today is the fourth death anniversary of Dr Khasruzzaman Chowdhury, a recipient of Swadhinata Padak.

Khasruzzaman, a member of the erstwhile CSP cadre, organised freedom fighters during the Liberation War in Netrakona, where he was serving as the sub-divisional officer.

Later, he joined the home ministry of the Mujibnagar government. After independence, he was appointed as the Mymensingh deputy commissioner. He was also secretary of the Unesco Bangladesh Commission.

After obtaining master's degree in economics from Harvard University, he received his PhD degree from Syracuse University. He taught economics in different institutions in the USA.

He authored more than 30 books in Bangla and English. His family members have requested all to pray for his departed soul.
