Hi-Tech Park now Bangabandhu Hi-Tech City in Gazipur
The name of Hi-Tech Park in Gazipur has been changed to Bangabandhu Hi-Tech City.
State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak informed journalists of the official declaration while he was visiting the under construction park in Kaliakoir upazila yesterday.
He said the government had a plan to establish a high-tech park, an IT park and a software technology park in every district gradually.
Around 10 lakh people would be employed in Bangabandhu Hi-Tech City in the next 10 years, he said, adding that eventually it would increase foreign investment that would play a role in GDP growth.
To facilitate people, a modern rail station would be constructed in the area, and its work would be inaugurated by Prime Minister's ICT Affairs Adviser Sajeeb Wajed Joy in July, he said.
The government had undertaken a plan to establish “Sheikh Kamal IT Training and Incubation Centre” at divisional level, he added.
The hi-tech city, being constructed on 355 acres of land, is the first hi-tech park in Bangladesh.
