Chittagong University Runners hosts marathon 10K 2025

The CU Runners 10K 2025, organised by Chittagong University Runners (CU Runners) and supported by several other campus clubs, concluded successfully on April 25. Over 600 runners from across the country participated in the early morning event, held on the scenic routes of Chittagong University.
The event started at 6 AM, as an energetic crowd gathered, ready to take on the 10-kilometre challenge. Despite slightly unfavourable weather, the event was executed smoothly, leaving participants with memorable experiences and a renewed appreciation for physical fitness and environmental awareness.
Parvez Palash from Khulna clinched the top position in the men's category, finishing the race in just 38 minutes. In the women's category, Movi Sutradhar from Sylhet secured the first position with an outstanding performance. Prizes were awarded in three different categories, with winners receiving crests and cash prizes. The prize-giving ceremony was graced by the Director of the Physical Education Department at Chittagong University, Anisul Alam, and the Assistant Director, Habibur Rahman Jalal.
This year's theme, "Save Trees, Preserve Wildlife", highlighted the need for environmental consciousness. The university campus, known for its lush hills and biodiversity, is home to many rare species of flora and fauna. However, due to ongoing deforestation and destruction of habitat, several species, including the elusive Maya Deer, are now at risk of extinction. Through this run, organisers aimed to raise awareness about these pressing environmental issues and advocate for sustainable living.
Volunteers played a crucial role in the smooth execution of the event. Many described the experience as rewarding, citing the opportunity to connect with people from diverse backgrounds who share a passion for running and nature.
CU Runners reaffirmed their commitment to organising more initiatives like this in the future, promoting both a healthy lifestyle and a more responsible approach to environmental stewardship.
