593 students awarded scholarships in Sylhet

593 students from 200 educational institutions in Sylhet's Zakiganj and Kanaighat Upazilas received scholarships from the Fahim Al Chowdhury Trust at a ceremony this morning at Moulovi Sair Ali High School in Parchak in Sylhet's Zakiganj Upazila.
2,081 students from classes five to eight participated in the scholarship examinations held on December 15 and 17 last year. Based on their performance, 593 students qualified for scholarships across three categories -- merit, first, and general. The awardees received certificates and Tk 2,500, 2,000, and 1,500 respectively.
ATM Selim Chowdhury, vice president of the Trust, presided over the event while Fahim Al Ishaq Chowdhury, founder and president of the Trust, joined online from London as the chief guest.
Among others, Md. Shabbir Ahmed, the Trust's secretary, and the Upazila Education Officer spoke at the event.
Founded by London-based philanthropist Fahim Al Ishaq Chowdhury, the Trust focuses on education, poverty alleviation, and disaster relief in Zakiganj and Kanaighat Upazilas.
