15th Bangladesh Physics Olympiad held at AIUB

The National Round of the 15th Bangladesh Physics Olympiad took place on Friday (February 28) at the American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB).
The event saw the participation of 1,400 students selected from a regional round that initially attracted around 10,000 students from across the country.
The 15th Bangladesh Physics Olympiad 2025 was jointly organized by the Bangladesh Physics Olympiad Committee and American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB).
The inauguration ceremony began with the hoisting of the national flag, followed by speeches from distinguished guests. Prof. Dr. A.F.M. Yusuf Haider, a renowned physicist and Chairman of Mathematics & Natural Sciences at BRAC University, served as the Chief Guest. Other notable attendees included Mr. Shahin Reza, Country Director for Bangladesh & Nepal at Oxford AQA; Ms. Jannatul Ferdous Sigma, Regional Development Manager at Pearson Bangladesh; Mr. Munir Hasan, Chief Coordinator of Digital Transformation & Youth Program at Prothom Alo; and Mr. Fayez Ahmed Jahangir Masud, General Secretary of the Bangladesh Physics Olympiad. Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman, Pro-Vice Chancellor of AIUB, chaired the opening ceremony on behalf of Ms. Nadia Anwar, Founder Member and Chairman of the Board of Trustees at AIUB.
The event featured an engaging Q&A session at the AIUB amphitheater, where students interacted with esteemed figures such as Prof. Dr. M. Arshad Momen from the Department of Physical Sciences at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), and Prof. Dr. Saleh Hasan Naqib, Vice Chancellor of the University of Rajshahi.
The prize distribution and closing ceremony were graced by Prof. Dr. M. Aminul Islam, a renowned physicist and Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor of the Interim Government of Bangladesh, who delivered an inspiring speech to the participants. Other speakers included Prof. Dr. Saleh Hasan Naqib; Mr. Anisul Hoque, Editor of Kishor Alo & Associate Editor of Prothom Alo; Prof. Dr. Mahbubul Alam Majumder, a renowned physicist and mathematician from BRAC University; and Prof. Dr. M. Arshad Momen. Prof. Dr. Saiful Islam, Vice Chancellor of AIUB, chaired the ceremony.
A total of 188 students were declared winners in the National Round, receiving medals, certificates, and other prizes. The top three winners from each category were awarded trophies and books. Among the winners, five outstanding individuals were selected to represent Bangladesh at the 55th International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) in France.
