The telecom operators today launched the much-hyped "unlimited monthly data package" and "data without expiry package".

However, the unlimited monthly data packages have limited daily data and the data without expiry packages come with an expiration date.

For instance, in the data without expiry package, data will be invalid within one year of purchase.

In this category, GP offered 2 packages: one is 15GB of internet data at a whopping Tk 1,099 for a year and the other is 5GB at Tk 449 for a year.

Robi offered 10GB at Tk 319 for a year while Banglalink 5GB at TK 306 for a year, and Teletalk 26GB at Tk 309 and 6GB at Tk 127 for a year.

In the unlimited monthly data package category, only GP offered two packages. But, both packages come with daily usage limitations.

One is a monthly Tk 399-pack with up to 1GB daily usage and the other is a Tk 649 pack with up to 2GB daily usage.

The other three operators will offer such packages within the next month.

Telecom Minister Mustafa Jabbar inaugurated the new packages at an event at Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC).

BTRC Chairman Shyam Sunder Sikder was present at the event.
