Summit Group starts supply of LNG

Privately-owned Summit Group has officially began pumping liquefied natural gas (LNG) into the central supply line of Bangladesh.
The group informed the media this afternoon that the supply commenced from 10:00pm last night, a month ahead of schedule.
This is the second group to be pumping the natural gas alternative LNG into the national supply and the first private firm to do so.
However, the amount of gas currently being supplied could not be known yet.
Summit Group Chairman Muhammed Aziz Khan said the group’s 500mmcfd will boost the confidence of investors seeking availability of energy, gas and power.
He added, Bangladesh’s authorities must set a fair price to secure uninterrupted supply, said a press release published on the group’s website.
