Stocks rebound after five-day slump

Stocks on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) edged up in early trading today, snapping a five-day losing streak.
The DSEX, the benchmark index of the premier bourse, gained 5.30 points, or 0.10 percent, to reach 5,079.67 as of 11:12am.
The Shariah-based DSES index advanced 0.18 percent to 1,137.53, while the DS30, which represents blue-chip stocks, rose 0.23 percent to 1,876.87.
Turnover, a key indicator of market activity, stood at Tk 126.95 crore during the session.
Of the 395 issues traded, 184 advanced, 113 declined, and 89 remained unchanged.
Progressive Life Insurance emerged as the day's top gainer with a 9 percent rise, whereas shares of Uttara Bank plummeted by 19 percent, the highest fall.
