Stocks fall for second day

Stocks fell for the second consecutive session today as investors remained concerned about the ongoing situation surrounding the 90-day suspension of fresh US tariffs on most countries.
The DSEX, the benchmark index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), lost 37.66 points, or 0.72 percent, to close at 5,132.01. The Shariah-compliant DSES index declined by 0.90 percent to 1,155.64, while the DS30, which tracks blue-chip stocks, fell by 0.96 percent to settle at 1,893.45.
Turnover, a key indicator of market activity, rose by 7.34 percent to Tk 446.12 crore.
Of the 395 issues traded, 98 advanced, 255 declined, and 44 remained unchanged.
Rangpur Foundry was the day's top gainer, rising nearly 9 percent, while Khan Brothers PP Woven Bag Industries suffered the steepest fall, shedding about 9 percent.
