Stocks fall in morning trade

Stocks on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) extended the losing streak for the ninth consecutive day in early trading today.
The DSEX, the benchmark index of the premier bourse, dropped 2.28 points, or 0.04 percent, to reach 5,020.18 as of 11:12 am.
The Shariah-based DSES index lost 0.11 percent to 1,119.89, while the DS30, which represents blue-chip stocks, declined 0.23 percent to 1,863.08.
Turnover, a key indicator of market activity, stood at Tk 124.19 crore during the session.
Of the 395 issues traded, 130 advanced, 158 declined, and 88 remained unchanged.
Energypac Power Generation emerged as the day's top gainer, rising over 8 percent, whereas shares of Eastern Bank plummeted 20 percent, the highest fall.
