Stocks edge up in early trade

The DSEX gained 7.98 points to stand at 4,964.24 as of 11:16 am

The Dhaka Stock Exchange indices rose in morning trading today for the second consecutive session.  

The DSEX, the benchmark index of the premier bourse, gained 7.98 points, or 0.16 percent, to stand at 4,964.24 as of  11:16  am.

The Shariah-based DSES index edged up 0.12 percent to 1,101.74, while the DS30, comprising blue-chip stocks, increased by 0.28 percent to 1,839.23.

Turnover, a key indicator of market activity, stood at Tk 307.85 crore during the session.

Of the 395 issues traded, 181 advanced, 119 declined, and 89 remained unchanged.

Shares of Progressive Life Insurance Co increased the highest, rising more than 9 percent, while Export Import (Exim) Bank of Bangladesh suffered the highest fall, dropping 7 percent.
