Stocks decline for second consecutive day

Stocks fell for the second consecutive session today while turnover declined compared to the previous session.
The DSEX, the benchmark index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), dropped 17.17 points, or 0.34 percent, to close at 4,935.61.
The DSES index, which tracks the Shariah-compliant stocks, declined 0.26 percent to 1,093.94, while the DS30, which represents blue-chip stocks, lost 0.36 percent to settle at 1,824.22.
Turnover, an important indicator of market activity, plunged 35 percent to Tk 291.07 crore.
Of the 395 issues traded, 50 advanced, 211 declined, and 136 remained unchanged.
Delta Spinners emerged as the day's top gainer, surging 8 percent, while shares of Power Grid Company of Bangladesh fell by 9 percent to become the day's biggest loser.
Meanwhile, the CSE All Share Price Index at the Chittagong Stock Exchange slipped 0.22 percent to close at 13,815.20.
