Sayeed Ahmed, chairman of Global Insurance Limited, has been elected president of the Bangladesh Insurance Association (BIA) for the 2025-26 term.

He secured 12 votes in the election held today, according to a press release.

BIA is the organization representing the country's insurance company owners and chief executive officers.

Ahmed holds chairmanship positions in several companies, including Bangladesh Check Technology Ltd., Purity Foods Ltd., and Global Insurance Ltd, according to the company website.

He has also served as vice chairman of Global Insurance Ltd. for two terms, in 2010-11 and 2018-19.

Additionally, he is the managing director of Vantage Securities Ltd., City Homes Ltd., and Al Taiyer International Ltd., and the chairman of Ahmed Foundation.

For the 2025-2026 term, Adeeba Rahman, sponsor director of Delta Life Insurance Company, has been elected first vice president, while Quazi Sakhawat Hossain, sponsor director of Agrani Insurance Company Ltd., has been elected vice president.
