Runner director to gift Tk 9.77cr of shares to son, daughter

Runner Automobiles to raise Tk 267.5 crore

Md Mozammel Hossain, a sponsor director of Runner Automobiles PLC, has expressed his intention to gift 34.06 lakh shares of the company to his son and daughter outside the trading system of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE).

Based on the closing price of Runner shares the previous day of Tk 28.7 on the DSE, the combined market value of the shares stands at around Tk 9.77 crore.

Hossain plans to transfer 22.70 lakh shares to his son, Mahamud Al Nahian, and 11.35 lakh shares to his daughter, Nowsheen Ishrat Promee. Both are general shareholders of the company, according to a DSE disclosure.

The transfer is expected to be completed by April 30, 2025.

Runner Automobiles reported a profit of Tk 5.46 crore in the October-December quarter of FY25.

As of FY24, sponsors and directors held 49.93 percent of the company's shares, local institutions held 26.61 percent, general shareholders held 23.35 percent, and non-resident Bangladeshis held 0.11 percent of the shares.

The company's manufacturing plant, located in Bhaluka, Mymensingh, spans 0.16 square kilometers and employs 395 people.

With a daily production capacity of 500 motorcycles, the plant can manufacture up to 1 lakh units annually, according to its website.
