MetLife settles highest life insurance claims in 2024

MetLife Bangladesh settled the highest amount of life insurance claims in 2024 among all life insurance companies operating in the country, according to data published by the Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority (IDRA).

The company disbursed Tk 2,895 crore in claims last year, maintaining a claims settlement ratio of 97.79 percent, one of the highest in the industry, according to a press release. 

"By settling the highest amount of claims in 2024, we've shown that MetLife stands firmly behind its commitment," said Ala Ahmad, chief executive officer of MetLife Bangladesh.

Of the total amount settled, health and medical claims accounted for Tk 237 crore, death claims stood at Tk 140 crore, while maturity, partial maturity, and other claims made up Tk 2,518 crore.

Over the five years from 2020 to 2024, MetLife Bangladesh settled more than Tk 11,400 crore in insurance claims.
