Grameenphone’s profit rose 10% to Tk 3,630 crore last year

Grameenphone (GP), the country's largest telecom operator, saw its profit increase in 2024, prompting it to recommend a higher cash dividend than the previous year.
It reported a profit of Tk 3,630 crore in 2024, marking an almost 10 percent year-on-year growth.
Shares of GP went up 0.24 percent to Tk 337.8 in mid-day trading today at the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE).
The telecom operator reported earnings per share (EPS) of Tk 26.89, up from Tk 24.49 the previous year, according to a disclosure on the DSE.
Its net operating cash flow per share rose to Tk 45.91, compared to Tk 44.88 in 2023.
The board has recommended a 170 percent final cash dividend, bringing the total to 330 percent for 2024—equivalent to 122.73 percent of the year's profit and including a 160 percent interim dividend already paid, the company said.
GP paid a 125 percent dividend in the previous year.
GP posted higher earnings despite the fact that its profit fell nearly 13 percent year on year to Tk 740 crore in the fourth quarter of financial year 2024 amid weak macro conditions and high inflation.
