ICMAB gets new president

Md Abdur Rahman Khan has been elected the president of the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) for a one-year term for 2023 in a council meeting yesterday.

Khan served the ICMAB council in different roles such as council member, treasurer and secretary during 2013 to 2022, said a press release.

Currently, he is serving as an additional secretary to the finance ministry.

He obtained honour's and master's degrees from the University of Chittagong and did an MA on government financial management from the University of Ulster in the UK.

The council also elected Md Salim Uddin and Mahtab Uddin Ahmed as vice-presidents, Md Kausar Alam as secretary and Md Akhtaruzzaman as treasurer of the institute.

Salim Uddin is currently working as the professor of the accounting department of the University of Chittagong. He is also working as the chairman of the Bangladesh House Building Finance Corporation and chairman of the executive committee of Islami Bank Bangladesh.

Salim is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh, the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh and the Chartered Institute of Public Finance & Accountancy in the UK.

He was an independent director of Chittagong Stock Exchange and Premier Bank Ltd and director of Rupali Bank and Rupali Investment.

Mahtab Uddin is the founder of BuildCon Consultancies. He worked in large multinational companies like Unilever and Axiata. He successfully managed the largest-ever merger in Bangladesh Robi Axiata and Airtel and managed the biggest-ever Robi IPO in Bangladesh.
