Govt to go for LDC graduation next year

Chief Adviser's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam today said the interim government has decided to go for LDC graduation next year.
"The government has taken opinion from the experts whether the process would impact the industries and decided to go for it," he said at a briefing at Foreign Service Academy today.
The decision was taken during today's meeting of the Council of Advisers chaired by Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus.
The chief adviser directed all to prepare from now to address the challenges that might come, he added.
Bangladesh is scheduled to graduate from the Least Developed Country (LDC) category to a developing nation in November 2026.
Besides, he said, the benefits which the country has been getting now will continue for another three years even after the LDC graduation.
"I think we can show our global competitiveness," he added.
In response to a question, the press secretary stated that there would be no disruption to the pharmaceuticals industry due to the LDC graduation.
