Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation today launched a special bus service between Tungipara of Gopalganj and Mujibnagar of Meherpur to mark the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain inaugurated the service through a video conference today while BRTC Chairman Tazul Islam was the special guest at the programme.

Tungipara is the birthplace of Bangabandhu while Mujibnagar is where the provisional government of independent Bangladesh took oath on April 17, 1971.

The special service will connect these historic places directly that would encourage people to visit there, BRTA said in a press release today.

Two AC-buses -- one from Tungipara and one from Mujibnagar -- will start at 6:00am every day. The route of the service will be: Mujibnagar-Meherpur town-Chuadanga-Jhenaidah-Magura-Faridpur-Bhanga-Gopalganj-Tungipara.

The fare of the service will be Tk 200 for the first 10 days from the inauguration date and after that, the fare would be revised depending on the number of passengers.
