Four more doctors die from virus

Four more doctors died of Covid-19 infection in the last two days.

They are MA Wahab, retired professor of medicine department at Holy Family Red Crescent Medical College Hospital; Ruhul Amin, eye specialist and former director of Al Razi Hospital; Golam Sarwar, head of pediatric department at International Medical College, Mohsin Kabir, senior consultant of gastroenterology at BRB Hospital.

Dr MA Wahab died at LabAid Hospital around 12:45am. He was Covid-19 positive, said Dr Rahat Anwar Chowdhury, joint secretary of Foundation for Doctors Safety Rights and Responsibilities (FDSR).

Dr Wahab was the vice president Bangladesh Kidney Foundation, he added.

Ruhul Amin, an eighth-batch student of Chattogram Medical College, passed away around 4:00pm on Wednesday while undergoing treatment at the intensive care unit of Asgar Ali Hospital.

Meanwhile, Golam Sarwar died around 4:00am on Wednesday at the intensive care unit of Anwar Khan Modern Medical College, said Mily Dey, director of Bangladesh Doctors' Foundation (BDF) Trust.

He was the 15th-batch student of CMC, Mily added.

Mohsin was being treated at Impulse Hospital where he breathed his last on Wednesday morning, she said.

According to FDSR, at least 59 doctors have died of Covid-19 so far while eight others died with coronavirus symptoms while BDF said 60 doctors died with Covid-19 infection while 12 others breathed their last showing symptoms.
