A defamation case was filed accusing four people, including editor of Bangla daily Kaler Kantho, with a court in Barguna yesterday.

Lawyer Dhirendra Debnath Shambhu, lawmaker for Barguna-1, and his son Sunam Debnath jointly filed the case with Barguna joint district judge court.

Accepting the case, the court summoned all accused, plaintiffs' lawyer Jagodish Chandra Shil said.

The accused in the case are: Emdadul Haque Milon, owner and editor of the Kaler Kantho, its executive editor Mostafa Kamal, publisher on the behalf of East West Media Group Ltd and press owner of Suprovat Media Ltd Moynal Hossain.

The plaintiffs in the case said a news titled on “paribarik league a Shambhu fule fepe” on March 11 damaged their image in society.

Four times lawmaker Shambhu is currently the chairman of the parliamentary committee on disaster management ministry.
