Australia to enter World Cup as No. 1 team

Hosts Australia will enter cricket World Cup 2015 as the number one team in rankings following its 112-run tri-series final victory over England.
According to a media release of the International Cricket Council (ICC) today, Australia holds a six-point advantage over second-placed reigning champion India.
South Africa is poised at the third place with 113 points, followed by Sri Lanka (108), England (104), New Zealand (102), Pakistan (96), West Indies (94), Bangladesh (75), Zimbabwe (53), Afghanistan (41), and Ireland (34) at the Reliance ICC ranking published today.
A victory for New Zealand against Pakistan in the upcoming ODI series on Tuesday would see it reduce England’s lead to two points, while a win for Pakistan would level the series 1-1 and reduce the gap on the Black Caps to three points.
The 14 competing teams will then complete their final ICC Cricket World Cup warm-up fixtures ahead of the beginning of the tournament on February 14.
