At our best & worst

Started from the bottom and now we're here [and I'm not just talking about SHOUT]. But are we an arrested development? NO. If you've been following us, you've surely noticed the changes we're making as we go. Most of these changes are based on your responses and reactions [on SHOUT's Facebook page or via emails]. We are a reflection of you – how you think, what you love, your frustrations and so on; to the extent of letting you articulate your interests and passion in your own words [Fable Factory and Kaleidoscope sections are all the more opulent thanks to reader contributions, aside from the usual reviews and opinion pieces we receive].
The end is near [2013 that is] and we're seeing the worst kind of violence unleashed on people whose only fault seems to be being born in a country with a dysfunctional political system. We've also seen the best face Dhaka could put on as a sophisticated connoisseur of literature and performing arts.
It seems like a classic case of multiple personality disorder:
BBQing people in the name of whatever, doling out blistering deaths in cold blood. Putting their charred faces on TV, newspapers, constantly reminding us that we're robbed of humanity. Mourning and expressing copious amounts of emotions all over social media. Showing off a taste for the finer elements in life by holding world class events. Showing up to show off more than good taste; showing up to take a break, to feel alive in the midst of death and destruction. Shaming those who are not mourning the same way you are. Because let's face it, your way is THE only way. All other ways are supremely inferior and that is the way of life here.
Along with violence, will the misguided, holier-than-thou judging ever stop? Peace out.
