Jas Waters, TV writer and journalist, passed away recently.

The news was confirmed in a statement from the writer's Twitter account. No cause of death was given. She was 39.

Waters worked on the second season of NBC's flagship drama series This Is Us. She most recently worked on the show, Kidding. Her other TV writing credits include The Breaks and Hood Adjacent with James Davis. The writer also worked on movies, including Hardball, Save The Last Dance and What Men Want.

Prior to her work in television, Waters was a columnist for Vibe magazine, where she had her own column in 2012. Aside from her time building stories behind the screen, Waters starred in the VH1 reality show, The Gossip Game, in 2013.

Dan Fogelman, Mandy Moore, Susan Kelechi Watson and Issa Rae among many others, mourned the writer's death on social media.
