Riaz gets his hands dirty for a clean Dhaka

The actor leads by example, before making a call to citizens.

A few days back, popular TV and film actor Riaz got out of his car in front of the National Parliament, and started to pick up garbage and leftovers from the streets. With gloves on, he carried a bin bag where he started to place all the trash he was picking up from the side walk.

Watching a film star cleaning away manually may seem like an ongoing shoot for his next movie, but it was not. Rather, Riaz was up to supporting a good cause.

Following the activity, Riaz challenged the audience to do what he had done. To participate in this challenge, one needs to clean any area, take photos or record videos of that cleaning work, and post it on their Facebook profile with hashtag #PBChallenge, tagging at least 3 persons as an invitation to take part in this challenge. Riaz started the challenge as part of “Dettol-Channel i Porichchonno Bangladesh Powered by Harpic” campaign.

Watching Riaz cleaning the trash, many people joined him enthusiastically. They collected plastic bottles, packets, bits of paper and other leftovers and put them in the bin bag.

“My purpose is to see the country clean,” Riaz says. “Look at our Parliament House. Such a wonderful structure, such a beautiful place, but look around it; we are turning it dirty ourselves.” He added further, “If we act with a little responsibility about this; this effort taken by me and the whole team of 'Dettol-Channel i Porichchonno Bangladesh Powered by Harpic' campaign will be fruitful.”
