National Sculpture Exhibition inaugurated

The fourth National Sculpture Exhibition 2018 was inaugurated yesterday at the National Art Gallery of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA). More than a hundred sculptures on diverse themes and media were featured at the exhibit. A total of 98 prominent and promising sculptors of Bangladesh are now on display for a month-long showcasing.
The masterpieces at the exhibit have been presented by renowned sculptors, namely Abdur Razzaque, Syed Abdullah Khalid, Shamim Sikder, Anwar Jahan and Ferdousi Priyabhashini.BSA also awarded five sculptors at the ceremony. Khokan Chandra Sarkar bagged the National Sculpture Award 2018while Palash Saha, Shimul Datta, Kazi Salahuddin Ahmed and Alok Kumar Sarkar received Honourable Mention Awards.
Inaugurating the exhibit, cultural affairs minister Asaduzzaman Noor said that sculptures signify the strength of civilisations while sculptors engage in creativity, hard labour and perseverance. Cultural affairs secretary Nasiruddin Ahmed attended the event as special guest while BSA DG Liaquat Ali Lucky presided over it.
The show will be open from 11am to 8pm till June 7.
