Akshay Kumar's “Toilet: Ek Prem Katha” is well on its way to end the dry spell in Bollywood. The film, which hit the screens on August 11, has made Rs 51.45 crore in its first three days in domestic business.

Beginning with earnings of Rs 13.10 crore on Friday, the film saw a massive jump on Saturday and subsequently maintained its lead on Sunday too, thanks to a strong word of mouth.

On Monday, trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to give the overall India collections of the film:

A host of big budget films – “Tubelight”, “Jagga Jasoos”, “Munna Michael” and “Jab Harry Met Sejal” -- have fared miserably at the box office, casting a dark shadow on the film industry. The success of Akshay Kumar's film has finally brought some cheer. Taran Adarsh said the film “has pumped oxygen in the lungs of an ailing film industry...”

Directed by Shree Narayan Singh, “Toilet: Ek Prem Katha” is about a hapless husband's seemingly endless fight against his family and village's objection to have a toilet installed inside their homes. Keshav, played by Akshay Kumar, has to try every trick in the trade to have a toilet installed even as his spunky wife (played by Bhumi Pednekar) threatens to walk out on him, if he fails to do so.

With “Toilet...”, Akshay's golden run continues. Known to deliver strong content-based films, 2017 has already seen him give one major hit – “Jolly LLB 2”. His upcoming films include Tamil/Hindi “Endhiran 2” (with Rajinikanth), “Padman” and “Gold”.
