Bangladeshi and American women artists come together

The New York Art Connection and Gallery Twenty One of Dhaka have organised a group exhibition of women artists, titled “Bangladesh-US Art Conclave”.
  On display are the works of eight women artists from Bangladesh and eight women artists from the USA. The event was inaugurated at Art Connection gallery, Long Island, NY. June 21, says a press release.
The speakers at the opening reception were Bangladesh Consul General Shameen Ahsan, New York; Barbara Lezs, president Wet paint group, the oldest art association of Long Island; Shamim Subrana, director Gallery Twenty One and Khurshid Alam Saleem, director The New York Art Connection.
The speakers said that the event will play a key role in furthering the cultural relations between the two countries.
 The Bangladeshi women artists whose works are on display at the exhibition are Kanak Chanpa Chakma, Rokeya Sultan, Maqsuda Iqbal Nipa, Shameem Subrana, Samina Nafeez, Bipasha Hayat, Afrozaa Jamil Konka and Laila Sharmeen
Bringing up the US end are Galina Melnik, Tina Iyalla, Helen Dietrick, Barbara Lenz, Shamim Begum, Laurie Samara-Schlageter, Ai Wen Kratz and Anu Annam.
US poet Erin Miller poet wrote and recited "The Bangladesh US Art Conclave Epic Poem" at the event. A large number of locals and expatriate Bangladeshis were present to appreciate the participant artists' works.
