Sabina Yasmin, 11, a Class VI student of Samiruddin High School and College in the district town, has remained traceless 20 days after her abduction.
She received the best girl footballer's award in Nilphamari Sadar upazila, participating in the government sponsored nationwide Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Gold Cup Tournament-2013, as a player of Natun Bazar Government Model Primary School football team.
On April 1, a few depraved youths of Natun Bazar area of the district town forcibly picked up Sabina into a microbus from the road beside Samiruddin High School and College when she came to buy snacks from a nearby shop at the recess during the school period, police and family sources said.
Sabina's mother Fulbanu, a resident of Natun Bazar, on April 4 lodged a written complaint with the Special Tribunal for Women and Children Repression Prevention against local youths Shahen Shah, Raja, Shah Alam, and mother and a sister of Shahen Shah on charge of the abduction.
The court directed Sadar police station to take necessary action to rescue Sabina, arrest the accused, investigate the matter and submit report to the court without delay but the victim is yet to be rescued.
As the depraved youths of Natun Bazar area used to stalk the girl on the way to and from school, her mother Fulbanu on several occasions made complaints to influential guardians of the youths but they turned deaf ears.
Fulbanu alleged that influential quarter is threatening her of 'consequence' as she filed the case.
After her husband's death a couple of years ago, she started working as domestic help to maintain the family.
Asaduzzaman Asad, investigation officer of the case, said, "I was busy with additional duty for Thakurgaon Sadar upazila parishad election till April 16. I am gathering information regarding the matter and will submit report to the court in due time."
