Motia, Suranjit reacts to EC Sohul's remarks

Awami League presidium members Suranjit Sengupta and Motia Chowdhury sharply reacted to Election Commissioner Sohul Hossain's remarks that the EC would sit with political parties after completion of party reforms."We did not expect such comments from the Election Commission...This is provocative," Suranjit told reporter. He said a party government has jurisdiction to make such comment, but not an Election Commission that must be restrained from making such comments. Motia Chowdhury said it is not expected that the Election Commission should get involved in the process of "ups and downs" of political parties. She referred to previous statements of the Election Commission when it had stated that the commission would sit with parties after ban on indoor politics would be lifted. She also mentioned the CEC's remark that he has been 'tired' of telling the government to lift the ban. She said, "It is not the lookout of the Election Commission to see who comes to the leadership of the parties."
