Three persons were sentenced to death and four others to life term imprisonment yesterday in the sensational case for murder of two policemen of Bakal police outpost in Satkhira Sadar in February 2003.

Those sentenced to death are Raihanul Islam, son of Nazrul Islam; Abed Ali, son of Rajab Ali and Zakir Hossain son of Abdul Khaleq.

Those convicted for life are Sbhan and Khaleq, sons of Shahar Ali; Milon, son of Kazi Golam Mostofa and Shahin, son of Sheikh Humayun Kabir. All the convicts are from Bakal village in Satkhira Sadar upazila.

The court acquitted Sadik, son of Rawshan Ali of Bakal village and Shahbar, son of Momin Gazi of Ganguia village in the Sadar upazila as the prosecution failed to prove the charge brought against them.
