The victim was identified as Bazlur Rahman, 30, a police of the district jail and son of Altaf Hossain of Hatikata village.

Sources said the miscreants picked up Bazlur from Hatikata crossing while he was going to office at about 2:00am.

His body was found in the morning with his hands and legs tied up. Police sent it to hospital morgue for an autopsy.

Talking to journalists, Chuadanga Jail Superintendent Akkas Ali Akand said the motive behind the killing could not be known. "Police have launched an investigation," he said.
