Habiganj By-polls
BNP man collects nomination

Ahead of the Habiganj-3 by-election scheduled for April 25, ruling BNP candidate Abu Lais Mobin Chowdhury yesterday collected nomination paper to get his party ticket for the by-polls.

The parliamentary seat fell vacant after Awami League (AL) lawmaker Shah AMS Kibria was killed in the January 27 grenade attack on an AL rally at Boidder Bazar in Habiganj.

A former chairman of Habiganj Zila Parishad, Mobin was an MP three times from the Jatiya Party.

He later joined the BNP, contested the 2001 general elections and was defeated to Kibria.

Meanwhile, Advocate Chowdhury Ashraful Bari Noman, a former Habiganj district general secretary of BNP, is likely to collect his nomination paper today, sources said.

The interview of BNP's nomination seekers will be held on March 28 in Dhaka.
