Robbers stab ex-railway DG

Robbers stabbed a former director general of Bangladesh Railways (BR) and looted cash and valuables from his residence in the city yesterday.MA Munnaf, 65, currently employed as a consultant of the BR, received stabs in his head. He is undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH). Munnaf was at his residence at Baitul Aman Housing Society in Mohammadpur with two domestic helps, aged 9 and 14, when the robbers stormed into the third floor apartment at around 12:30pm, said his sister-in-law Khaleda Hoque. The robbers tied the domestic helps with electric wires and locked them inside the kitchen, she said. They looted cash, including foreign currencies, and valuables from the almiras after stabbing Munnaf in the head. Munnaf's wife Safura Munnaf with her sister Khaleda went out for shopping at noon and came back at 2:45pm only to find Munnaf lying on the bed with the wound. Munnaf was rushed to the DMCH at 3:30PM.
