Magpies ready to swoop on Giggs

Newcastle are lining up a four-million-pound New Year swoop for unsettled Manchester United star Ryan Giggs, The Sun newspaper reported Friday. The future career of Giggs at Manchester United has been up in the air after the Welsh winger turned down a one-year contract at the Red Devils. The Sun said an approach by Newcastle had already been made and Giggs was aware of their interest. Newcastle boss Graeme Souness is ready to make his move during the January transfer window, it reported. Giggs, 31, has made more than 500 appearances for Manchester United since his debut in 1990 and has won numerous titles.
