Fatikchhari criminal die in 'crossfire'

A criminal belonging to infamous Osman Bahini died in 'crossfire' when his accomplices opened fire on the members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in Fatikchhari upazila of Chittagong yesterday.A team of the anticrime elite force arrested Sajal Kanti Nath, 32, at South Rangamatia in the upazila early yesterday. He was wanted in a number of criminal cases. As Rab men set out to recover illegal firearms of Osman Bahini from Sajal's possession, taking him with them in the evening, his accomplices opened fire on the members of the anticrime force. The Rab men retaliated. Rab sources said Sajal was caught in crossfire while trying to flee. He died on the spot. According to the UNB, Sajal was a Jubo Dal cadre and arrested along with a Chinese rifle and ten bullets.
