Girl burnt alive in Pirojpur fire


A 12-year-old girl was burnt alive and two other girls sustained burns in a fire sparked off by a gas cylinder blast at a house near Jame Mosque in Nazirpur Upazila headquarters on Thursday night.

The dead was identified as Dolon, a student of class five and daughter of Awal Akhand.

The gas cylinder exploded when her mother was lighting the gas burner at about 10.00pm.

Seeing the house in flames, the girl went under a cot but the fire engulfed her. Her mother was unhurt as she ran out of the house immediately. Her two other relatives Munni and Mala sustained burn injuries.

Television set, fridge and other valuables worth about Tk one lakh were also damaged.
