NEOC starts monitoring by-polls

The National Election Observation Council (NEOC), a non-governmental orgainastion, has started monitoring the electoral environment at Dhaka-10 and Munshiganj-1 constituencies for by-elections on June 6.The observers of the council started the monitoring process after the candidates filed their nomination papers in two constituencies and will continue their jobs till the election results are published, said a press release. The council will release a final report after the election pointing irregularities, if there is any, during the election campaign. "This long-term observation is designed to investigate certain types of electoral irregularities that take place beyond the scrutiny of international observers, journalists and election officials," NEOC Chairman Prof Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah said in the press release.
