1 MINUTE PLEASE!

Versatility is her forte. Dancer, art director, researcher, cultural activist, dancer – even at 60, Lubna Marium continues to remain active, putting those half her age to shame. She is affiliated with 'Nrityajog', 'Nrittoshilpi Shongstha', and the International Dance Council. She actively participates in activities of various cultural organizations, and is a member of the International Federation for Theatre Research, member of South Asians for Human Rights, partner of the Indo-Bangla Cultural Initiative. This week we talk to the virtuoso about the biggest challenge she has faced in her profession, her plans with her institute Shadhona Shangskritik Mondol, and much more!
Childhood Dream
In my childhood days, I used to be sick most of the time, that is one of the reasons why I wanted to become a doctor.
Biggest Challenge that You Faced as a Dancer
Being able to take the decision that I would be a dancer was the biggest challenge that I had to face not only as a dancer but also as a human being.
If You Could Change One Thing about Today's Dance Scene
We often fail to recognize the fact we have rich folk performance based dance traditions in our country. I would want the form to get popularized.
Your Plans with Shadhona
Shadhona is a platform which aims to enhance the tradition of performance in Bangladesh. I want to transform Shadhona into such an institute of learning where people will come and practice wisdom tradition so that we can effectively meet the challenges of today's world and flourish in the world to come.
Your Advice to Aspiring Dancers
Training, training and training. Perseverance is an ingredient one must have.
Favourite Pastime
Since my childhood I would always take respite in books. At present as well as being an academic, I love reading.
