Model, choreographer, TV director and actress, Tania Ahmed is a name to contend with in the showbiz world. She has now diversified into film making with her debut film at the shooting stage in London.

The versatile talent recently spoke to The Daily Star about her new project.

Tell us about the plot of your new film.

Tania: “Good Morning London”, hinges on a father-daughter conflict. I don't want to tell you anymore; audience can watch the plot unfold in movie theatres.

How did you prepare for your debut film?

Tania: I was well prepared for my entry into the film industry. I had to be as the film was to be shot abroad under the prestigious Impress Telefilm banner. Moreover, all my uncles have been involved in the film industry for a long time.

Who is in the cast?

Tania: Bidya Sinha Mim, Sazzad -- champion of Handsome the Ultimate man, Tariq Anam Khan, Mir Sabbir, Tanzika and Nisho.

Why did you choose Sazzad and Mim as the protagonists?

Tania: Mim is now doing very well as a model and TV actress. She is tall and can compete well with foreign actresses. On the other hand, I picked Sazzad because of his good looks and dapper appearance in the drama serial “Face”. He can also dance very well.

Tell us about the music of the film.

Tania: Of the six tracks in the film, five have been directed by SI Tutul.  The singers are Habib Wahid, Tutul, Kona and Nowmi of Khude Ganraj.  The song recording is almost over.

When did you first plan to direct a movie?

Tania: I dreamed of making a film ever since my childhood. I worked with Afzal Hossain and since then have closely observed shot-making techniques. I learnt many things from Afzal that helped me become a TV director.

Besides, I directed a greatly popular video music album.

Tell us about your direction of your debut play…

Tania: The warmly received “Amar Jyotsna Dine” featured Suborna Mostofa, Tinni and Jitu Ahsan. Later, I started to direct drama serials.

Do you plan to act in your own movies?

Tania: No. I think that it is tough to work on direction and acting simultaneously. Direction of plays or films is a cerebral exercise.

What was the last film in which you starred?

Tania: Humayun Ahmed's “Noi Number Bipod Sanket”. After that, many film offers came my way, but I turned them down because they did not have interesting plots. However, I have appeared in a number of TV plays.

From acting and TV direction, you are stepping into films.

What is your target as a filmmaker?

Tania: As a new filmmaker, all my efforts will go in vain if I don't present something new to the audience. However, I will say more only after the project is completed.

Are you still acting in TV plays?

Tania: No, my focus is on films. I am not even appearing in Eid plays at the moment.

Tell us about your son as an actor?

Tania: Sreash recently acted in the telefilm “Setu”. Although he did a very good job of it, I don't want to involve him in my project at present.
