Foad Nasser Babu is a living legend where Bangladeshi music is concerned. One of the original members of the band Feedback, Foad is known for composing evergreen Bengali numbers like Jokhoni Nibir Kore, sung by Niloy Das, yet another great musician in the country. Known for his genius on the keyboards, Foad Nasser Babu is a name that the industry will cherish forever. He took out a few moments to speak to the Star Weekend.
What was the first song that you had ever composed?
"Abar Eshechhe Shey Muktir Logno" - A Gono Shongeet written by Ahmed Bashir, a friend, just after independence; performed by Shomonbo i Shilpi Goshthi. "Udashi Ey Mone" was the first recorded song.
If you were given an opportunity to go back in the past, what would you change?
A formal musical education would definitely change me a lot.
What is the one song that really inspires you to get up in the morning and move?
"Ekla Cholo Re"
If you had a chance to meet Lalon Shah, what would you tell him?
"Baul" You're the greatest philosopher of our land.
If banished to an isolated island, what three things would you take with you?
My Wife, my daughter and a keyboard.
Who is or are your musical inspiration/s?
Composers, musicians of all times and their music from wherever they are.
What would be your advice to the young people who would like to enter the music industry in Bangladesh today?
Get up, stand up, don't give up the fight, and don't give up the right.
What is the one change that you would like to make in the music industry of Bangladesh if given an opportunity to do so?
Ensure strict enforcement of copyright law, everything will fall into place.
