Newcomers Saif Sporting Club notched a 3-1 win against T&T Club in the opening match of the Bangladesh Championship League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium yesterday.

The winners took a 2-0 lead in the first half, thanks to early strikes from Sumon Ali and Ariful Islam, before substitute forward Sajjad Hossain scored a third two minutes into stoppage time to get the pre-league favourites to a flying start.

A penalty conversion from Nayeemuddin deep into injury time only handed some consolation to T&T Club.

Meanwhile, Karwan Bazar Progoti Sangha will take on Bangladesh Police FC in the only match today, which will kick off at 3:15pm at the Kamalapur Stadium.
