Anwar Hossain Manju and Sheikh Shahidul Islam have been reelected as Jatiya Party-JP chairman and general secretary at the party’s triennial council at city’s Institution of Engineers’ Bangladesh today.

Names of others of the central committee will be announced later, M Salahuddin Ahmed, Jatiya Party (Manju) office secretary, told The Daily Star.

Earlier in the morning, the inaugural session of the council was held with Anwar Hossain Manju, also the forest and environment minister, in the chair.

Over a thousand councilors and delegates attended the council titled “Vow to materialise democracy, accountability, good governance and spirit of the Liberation War” amid festivity.

Leaders of different political parties including ruling Awami League and Gono Azadi League were present at the inaugural session.
