Awami League lawmaker Abdur Rahman Bodi secured a six-month bail from the High Court two weeks into his conviction for “concealing” and “providing false” wealth statement to the Anti-Corruption Commission.

The HC bench of Justice Md Ruhul Quddus granted passed the order after hearing a bail petition filed by Bodi.

Following the HC order, there is no legal bar for Bodi’s release from jail, his lawyer Nashreen Siddiqua Lina told reporters.

Yesterday, Bodi filed an appeal with the HC, challenging a lower court verdict that sentenced him to three years’ imprisonment in the graft case filed in March, 2014.

Dhaka Special Judge's Court-3, in the verdict pronounced on November 2, also fined Bodi Tk 10 lakh. In default, he will have to spend three more months in jail.
