A Dhaka court today issued arrest warrants against 67 leaders and activists of the 20-party alliance including BNP leaders Selima Rahman and Barkatullah Bulu in an arson attack case.

Judge Kamrul Hossain Mollah of Metropolitan Sessions Judges Court passed the order after accepting the charges pressed against 93 accused including BNP vice chairman Selima and 66 others.

The court directed the officer-in-charge of Motijheel Police Station to submit a report on October 10 on execution of the arrest warrants.

Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas, personal assistant to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, is also facing the arrest warrant in the case.  

Twenty-six BNP leaders including MK Anwar, Shawkat Mahmud, Aman Ullah Aman are on bail in the case.

The case was filed over carrying out an arson attack on a bus in February last year during BNP-led 20-party alliance’s anti-government agitation.
