Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the academic activities of Patuakhali Medical College through a video conference tomorrow. 

A total of 50 MBBS students, including 26 females, have already taken admission at the first batch of the college which is set up at 250-bed Patuakhali General Hospital compound.

The video conference is scheduled to begin at 9:00am at the General Hospital premises.

Dr MA Mannan, founding principal of the 24th medical college of the country, said students will study anatomy, physiology and bio chemistry in first year of the five-year course.

Earlier, during her visit to Patuakhali on February 25 in 2012, the prime minister at a public meeting announced setting up the medical college.

Later, the authorities concerned gave its approval on February 23 in 2014 and appointed MA Mannan as principal of the college on June 16 the same year.
