Ferry services on the Paturia-Daulatdia route resumed this morning after remaining suspended for over 11 hours due to poor visibility caused by dense fog.

Four ferries which were forced to anchor in the mid-river last night, started for their respective destinations at 9:30am after the disappearance of fog, said Bidyut Kumar Saha, manager (commerce) of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) at Aricha ghat in Manikganj.

Meanwhile, huge traffic jam stretching at eight kilometers has appeared on both sides of the route, with several hundred of vehicles including goods-laden trucks stuck in a bottleneck.

Eight Ro-Ro ferries and two K-type ferries are plying the route, our Manikganj correspondent quoted the BIWTC official as saying.

Earlier on yesterday, ferry services on the route were snapped for over three hours from about 6:00am over the same reason, our Manikganj correspondent reported.
